Hello NGS leaders,

I would like to ask members of this group to chime in on what it takes, in your mind, to properly validate a new NGS sample prep kit.  I've talked to various customers, and I get a range of "this will take me a year to validate a new kit" to "oh, that's relatively simple".  If you were to consider changing your NGS library prep kit/method, what would you do to make yourself comfortable?

I would do what I always do when I try a new method: Run the same sample through both methods. So, in parallel, prep a sample using the old and the new method and run them on the same chip. If there are specifics I am particularly interested in - how does it perform on slightly degraded troublesome samples, how does it perform on bidirectional, I would do that too.

I wonder what the people saying it would take them a year mean?
